Foot Locker Unlocked announces Nike 1/2 Cent for a Decemcer 18,2010 release-The 1/2 cent is a popular hybrid that blends all the shoes in the Air Penny line, which most famously includes the Foamposite. The injection-molded foam shell was an innovation that made waves in the sneaker world, and is now being used on other Nike and Jordan Brand models ranging from the AJ 1 Armor to the Air Force 1. The 1/2 Cent is also known for being a “puppet PE” belonging to Lil’ Penny, a puppet used in Nike Basketball commercials. The real Penny Hardaway had already retired when the shoe released, so dropping a puppet into the campaign made for an easy transition. Lil’ Penny’s voice was comedian Chris Rock, and the character even made his way into a Billboard #1 music video for Blackstreet- No Diggity.
